The
first Legends car, nicknamed "Lil Bugger", was brought into
Western Canada by Dave Zubick in the early 90's. In 1993
Wayne Miller was the first racer to buy a Legends car and
the process of building Legends Cars of Alberta began.
In its
first year nine cars competed on the asphalt in
Calgary and Medicine Hat and on the dirt tracks in
Lethbridge and Edmonton. The original 9 were Dave Zubick,
Wayne Miller, Jim Messner, Lance Johnson and his 2 sons
Ricky & Rob, Jamie Beatson, Bob Lawton, Tim Boychuk and
Allen Lillie.
Wayne
Miller bought the dealership from Dave Zubick in 2000 at
which time there were 17 cars competing, including Hugh
Williamson & Rick Walls who still actively race today.

With
exceptional support from sponsors, the racers and fans,
Legends of Alberta continues to grow in Western Canada with
the current count of 64 cars that race throughout
Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Primarily a
paved oval series, the Legends racers have
played on the road course and tried a couple of
dirt events in Lethbridge, AB, Swift Current, SK
and High River, AB.
Some have even
tried their skill on the Drag Strip!

In 2009 several of
our Legends drivers participated in the
inaugural roadcourse race held at Stratotech
Race Park in Ft. Saskatchewan, AB. The feedback
was awesome and you can bet you'll see more Road
Course events in the future. |

2009 Was also the
year for the introduction of a 4 race Dirt
Series sponsored by Mike & Ikes. With the
excellent turnout and great feedback, the Dirt
Series will be a regular part of the schedule
beginning in 2010 with sponsorship help from our
friends at Mac's Convenience Stores.
Please check the
schedule to find
out where the Legends will be appearing. |

Mac's Convenience Store has
been the Title Sponsor for the Legends Racing Series in
Western Canada since 1994. Throughout the past 15 years Ron
Thompson, Marketing Manager for Mac's, has provided
the Legends Series with the promotional support that has
helped Legends Cars become a successful series.
In past years, the home track
has been at Race City Motorsport Park in Calgary, but
with the park's recent closure, the Mac's Legends have
adopted the Edmonton International Raceway, in Wetaskiwin,
AB, as its primary venue. The series can also be seen
providing fans with edge-of-your-seat racing shows at the
paved ovals in Medicine Hat, AB, Saskatoon, SK and
Kalispell, MT.

The
Chase for the Mac's Cup is awarded to the season's top
driver in each division. Each racing event, held at
different paved oval venues, counts towards
Chase Points.

The
Mac's Froster 50 - June 19th, 2010
Mac's Convenience Stores will sponsor the 9th Annual
Froster 50 in Saskatoon, SK at the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway.
The most prestigious Legends Race in Canada, the
Froster 50 differs from the other Chase for the Mac's Cup Races in
that it is a 50 kilometers long race (84 laps at
ACMS) rather than a 50 Lap race. Because of this length the race
is split into two halves of 42 laps each to allow for re-fueling.
With the largest purse for a Legends Race in Western
Canada up for grabs, it attracts the largest and best field of
Legends racers from Canada and the North Western United States. As
well, the Froster 50 is a National Qualifier and all points earned
by the racers will count for National Points which includes all
sanctioned Legends races in Canada & the United States.
Other races in the Chase for the Mac's Cup are
held at different paved oval venues and are each 50 laps long and are as follows:
Milk To Go 50 - M&M's 50 - Seatles Best Coffee 50 -
Doritos 50 - Inferno 50 - Twizzlers 50 - Wrigleys5
